Katie Flowers
artmaking for creativity, insight and healing
I have been artist all my life, I am a Magpie! A Mixed Media Eclectic Artist hovering somewhere between collage, words and painting. My art work has grown out of my passion for Stories, Art Journaling and for talking to myself playfully in the pages of a book. These works are made over time, in layers of colour, text, images and ideas and are part of my story. For me, stories are everywhere in the form of places, people, events and the amazing abundance of nature in my loved home, Hong Kong.
Welcome to my Tiny Museum at the AIA Carnival, Hong Kong
The Chamber of Stories
My mother was a storyteller and the keeper of our family’s tales and lore. Fascinated by people, she recorded all this in her notebooks, a habit she passed on to me. As a child she would buy me note books in which to record life, ideas, poetry, thoughts, musings and more, we communed and reflected together.
Featured here in my Tiny Museum, you will find my own art journals, created over many years which track and trace my life, my internaal world as well as the world around me. Within the pages of my many books are stories of very small moments, fleeting thoughts, dreams, great life changes, momentous events, and intimate, tiny experiences. These art journals have become my way to record as well as to process life.
Stories live on the tall shelves of libraries and bookshops as well as in the shared conversational currency of our everyday lives. My stories live inside of me and find their way out onto the pages of my art journals : savouring treasuring inflating promoting memorising memorialsing and keeping within their pages stories of some very small moments. In marking some of the mundane moments of life they become imbued with magic!
Stories of fleeting thoughts. Stories of a dream. Stories of a large life change. Stories of momentous moments and the stories of intimate tiny ones.
You can see the pages turn throughout the duration of the carnival, the journals will also change over time…..be sure to come and visit several times!

A group of art therapists embarked on a profound inner journey, visualizing their self-discoveries and life reflections through diverse artworks. Here are my own artworks that speak to profound learnings of my own.
Mother
“I can “
My mother Bernadette who died in 2008 continues to teach me to this day, I learned from her that dancing, singing and poetry are critical life ingredients.
Life
“I will “
My art has taught me that I am able to transform, gain wisdom, manifest, create new visions and dreams. Knowing that I have agency in my life is powerful.
Self
“I am “
A work in progress, my life continues to unfold in myriad ways, my art and life inform and reflect each other as well as my many passions.
