Art Therapy
Art is your primary language
When words are simply not enough………
People benefit from seeking support from a variety of helping professions at different times in their lives. As adults many of us are used to being the experts of our own problems and generally access this knowledge through our cognitive brain and talk about the ‘problem’. Surprisingly, only a relatively small percentage of communication in humans is expressed verbally…. so there are enormous benefits in adding an extra expressive modality, such as art making to the therapy journey.
Art making in therapy can provide a conduit to our thoughts, beliefs and feelings that are buried very deeply and help us to access and work with those in new ways. Through the making of imagery it is possible to externalise experience, which then allows us to try and understand that, walk around it and re-imagine our stories so that we can envisage change or new endings. The arts have been used by humans for thousands of years as a way to communicate not only experiences of beauty, but also those of struggle, crisis and trauma.

My Approach
My work is informed by training in Art Therapy, Focusing-Oriented Practice, and Jungian Studies, as well as more than 30 years of experience as an international school art educator working with children, adolescents, and families. I hold a Diploma in Jungian Psychology and continue my studies in Depth Psychology, with a focus on the symbolic, archetypal, and transformative dimensions of psychic life.
My approach is deeply client-centered. We begin with you — your experience, your inner world, and what is asking for attention in your life right now. I strive to create a respectful, collaborative space grounded in trust for the psyche’s natural movement toward healing and integration.
Rather than working solely through a clinical or diagnostic lens, I attend to what is alive in the psyche: recurring dreams, compelling images, emotional undercurrents, symbols, and figures emerging through active imagination. Art-making becomes a language through which symbolic material can take form, become conscious, and open toward deeper understanding and integration.
Dream symbolism, spiritual imagery, active imagination, and archetypal material are all welcome within this work. I also incorporate mindfulness and Focusing practices that support greater awareness of the body, emotions, and inner experience.
My studio offers a safe and supportive container for exploration, reflection, and transformation. I currently work with adults and teens navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship challenges, life transitions, eating disorders, sleep difficulties, and questions of identity, meaning, and personal transformation.
