Mindfulness in Practice
How often have you started an art class and then all of a sudden times up and you are not ready to stop! You can’t believe how quickly the time has passed! This happens to people all the time in the Wild at Art Studio.
Katie’s Contemplations
Do you know why that happens to us all? You are focusing your attention in the present moment rather than on the outside world, you are in the creative zone, in that very moment and your own flow state. This is what we call Mindfulness, a wonderful side benefit to certain kinds of art making and some would say the main benefit!
Mindfulness is a particular way of paying attention to whatever our experience is in the present moment, without preference or judgment. Mindfulness asks us to engage our full awareness. In this art making moment you are engaging your full awareness on your art making and time stands still.
So as well as the sheer enjoyment of making something with our own hands, art connects us to who we are. We can explore our relationship with our own vitality and expressiveness, meeting our souls yearning to be creative and connecting with joy! Many workshops at the Wild at Art Studio bring this sense of Art and Mindfulness together in both online zoom encounters and in person.
If you are seeking this kind of present moment journey. Take a peek at the Creative Wellness page here on the Wild at Art Website to see the kinds of activities Art and Mindfulness: https://bit.ly/3LNVyj6
