Many of us are now returning to our daily commute, taking the same route and transport day in and day out. It's easy to rush along the same old trek, our attention focussed on the humdrum tasks of the day, without consciously noticing those subtle weather things along the way.
A few years ago I decided to spice up my mundane routine, taking a few photos along the way, of my small moments, those shifting skies and I posted these daily on Facebook for a month. To my surprise I got all sorts of feedback, I realised I was giving people a small window into my world…
I have noticed that as our habits have changed over the last 18 months, many people are taking wonderful daily photos of mundane moments, marvellous views and sunsets, nature zoom-ins and close ups, local Hong Kong localities and features and more. I love that the Stop and Notice habits have emerged and are being shared in Instagram and Facebook
Seeing something Magical in the Mundane is a great way to pause and give our full attention to something, it is a mindfulness practice and mindfulness asks us to engage our full awareness and all of our senses.
I invite you to get your phone out this week and Zoom in on what calls your attention on your daily commute.
