Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentine's day!

So here in Hong Kong we have again had to adapt to challenges and changes in our lives,  Hong Kong students are not attending school, the new Government restrictions on gathering and distancing are extremely strict.

I have now pressed pause on art workshops at the studio for the coming 2 weeks, in line with the guidelines. This feels very hard for me, and I'm sure for all of you who have been coming each week to make, create and destress through art we will all feel the loss of our community and connection in person.

I will be bringing my regular weekly Artmaking classes to you wherever possible via Zoom link (Thank you Internet) the “In Person” weekend  workshops will go on hold until we know more.

 Katie’s Contemplations

NOW more than ever is a time for all of us to tap into our creative abilities, to the wellspring of energy that can help to relieve the build up of pressure inside and to help us process and express the hard and complex feelings that we are experiencing inside.

Processing the difficult stuff on the page helps us to make sense of it all or at the very least, externalize our feelings about it.

I find it vital to use my art-making practice to keep me calm and to anchor my anxiety when I feel wound up. The repetitive nature of making marks and patterns when I doodle, is essential for me to stop following my intrusive thoughts and to just gentle into the flow. As I have said many times, Art making is not the province of a rare group of “talented” individuals, it is our first language and often a vocabulary that we have lost connection with and we just need to reactivate this and get to know again. Let me help you to do that!
